Description
The town of Montalcino was born on a hill in Tuscany. Probably, this place was originally inhabited by the Etruscans, as a matter of fact, we know that in December 814 B.C. king Ludovico il Pio was reigning. At the beginning of the 20th century, Montalcino’s economic wealth was based on leather factories. In addition to this, thanks to the very convenient and strategic position that allowed the cultivation of the vineyards, it became a very popular location in the world for its Brunello di Montalcino wine production coming from Sangiovese grapes, together with il Rosso di Montalcino and il Sant’Antimo.
Your tour continues with the visit to the small town of Pienza, the ideal city of Renaissance period. It was created by Pope Pio III who, having been born there, wanted to make of this place his ideal small town. Today, Pienza is famous both for its beauty and its cheeses; among them you can’t not try Pienza’s Pecorino cheese.
To follow, we reach Montepulciano, a town that, apart from its own historical findings, can be defined as “the city of wine” with its underground cellars dug in the tuff. So, what are you waiting for?? On your request it will be possible to suggest excellent cellars for your tasting. The heart of Tuscany awaits you.
Good trip through these flavours!!
